The Resurrection Evidence that Changed a Generation of Critical Scholars

posted Aug 14, 2009 1:07 PM by Kenny Johnson

Gary Habermas gave an excellent lecture on the evidence for the Resurrection of Jesus at the European Leadership Forum. What I liked most is how he purposely 'concedes'* certain points to the liberal scholars and yet still makes an overwhelming case for the historicity of the resurrection. I knew there was some recent scholarship that suggested that the historical evidence alone suggests that Christians developed a creed [see 1 Cor 15:3-8] about the resurrection as early as 3 years after the crucifixion, but I was surprised how man liberal scholars were willing to concede this point as well. One scholar even claims the historical record actually shows that we can't date the resurrection creed to any later than 6 months after the crucification.

*Habermas doesn't actually accept the liberal points, but concedes them in order to strengthen his argument.

New resources

posted Aug 6, 2009 5:24 PM by Kenny Johnson

Over the last several days I've added several new resources. In addition, I've cleaned the site by removing some links that didn't meet our quality standards, added new introductions, added new site descriptions, and did some formatting clean-up.

I will be adding a lot more material this weekend, so if you read this before then, please check back soon!

Welcome

Welcome Guests,

If you happened to stumble on this site around the time of this post, you'll notice that the site is still very much a work in progress. I decided to publish it to the web early so I can share with friends and family as I continue to add resources. There is already plenty to check out, but please come back in the near future because I will be adding much more in the coming days, weeks, and months.

Thanks,
Kenny
